Air & Water Quality
Analysis of AutoGC & VOC Canister Data in DFW Area
Executive Summary
An assessment of the impacts of VOC emissions from oil and gas activity in the Barnett Shale area on ambient air levels of air pollutants in the Dallas - Fort Worth (DFW) region was undertaken using existing monitoring data and an attempt was made to identify the dominant sources of VOC emissions in the region.
The analysis focused on the six counties in the DFW area where air quality monitors are located that measure volatile organic compound (VOC) concentrations in the ambient air using canisters and Automated Gas Chromatographs (AutoGCs).
